Young Mind Therapy
Support For Children and Teens (Ages 10 – 18)
About me…
LMSW, SSW, CCAPT (Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional)
Hello! After nearly 20 years of practicing as a school social worker, I decided it was time for a change. Clinical social work has been a dream of mine so becoming the owner of Young Mind Therapy made sense. Not only can I focus on children’s mental health but continue to
provide school social work services virtually with K-12 students all over Michigan. I hold a Masters in Social Work from Wayne State University. My Bachelors of Science in Psychology was earned from Michigan State University. Go green! Other work experience consists of positions with MSU Safe Place (shelter for abused women and children), the American Red Cross, Judson Center (family reunification program), and a youth runaway center located in Inkster, MI.
I have extensive knowledge of IEP’s, 504 Plans and support services within schools. In the past, I have the opportunity to proactively work with parents, children and teachers at both Swartz Creek Community Schools and Okemos Public schools. It was an honor to receive the 2017 Okemos Education Foundation Commitment to Excellence Award. People are my passion. Everyone has a story and I have always found the human experience deeply interesting. Outside of work, you can find me taxiing around my own children, snuggling with my stubborn bulldog, binge-watching Netflix or searching for the next new recipe on Pinterest!
My Approach
Your child’s mental health is priority. Together we can move from frustration to happiness by focusing on our strengths. We all have them! I take a compassionate, holistic and problem solving approach to coping with these struggles. Cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and tapping are fantastic evidence based methods helpful in reaching goals.
